Mergenthaler Vo-Tech gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They managed a 61-55 win over the Carver Vo-Tech Bears. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 50-47 loss the last time these two teams met.

Savage went 10-for-15 on his way to 20 points and seven boards, while Sturdvant shot 45% from the field to rack up 16 points. Savage is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 67% in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Wayne Wheeler was another key player, putting up seven points.

Carver Vo-Tech dropped their record down to 1-1 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
