The Butler Bulldogs will face off against the Thomson Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Butler is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Burke County: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Butler blew Burke County out of the water with a 66-36 final score. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.

Butler can attribute much of their success to Brayla Harris, who almost dropped a triple-double on 20 points, 13 boards, and nine assists, and Paris Floyd, who went 7 of 14 en route to 15 points and seven steals. Floyd is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 19 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rania Curry, who posted seven points in addition to 12 rebounds and three steals.
Butler smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Thomson entered their tilt with Josey on Friday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 61-49.
Butler better keep an eye on Jada Kendrick. She was instrumental in Thomson's win, going 5 for 12 on her way to 21 points along with seven boards and five assists. Another player making a difference was Janiya Scott, who went 7 of 12 en route to 18 points.
Thomson's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.2 points per game. As for Butler, their victory bumped their record up to 13-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Butler and Thomson are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Butler hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 59.9 points per game. However, it's not like Thomson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 64.6 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Butler beat Thomson 54-46 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Kendrick, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.
