Softball Recap: Plum Beats Chartiers Valley for Their Third Straight Victory

While Plum put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Chartiers Valley. The Plum Mustangs blew past the Chartiers Valley Colts 13-0. Fans of the Mustangs have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Riley Stephans made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Lily DeLuca was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Brooke Bernosky, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Plum was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chartiers Valley only posted a batting average of .118.

The victory (which was Plum's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Chartiers Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plum will challenge Knoch at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Plum's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Chartiers Valley, they will be playing at home against Beaver at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
