Soccer Game Preview: James Monroe vs. King George

James Monroe hasn't had much luck against King George recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Yellow Jackets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Foxes at 7:00 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

James Monroe is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Spotsylvania. While losing is never fun, James Monroe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 244th, while Spotsylvania are ranked 120th).

Meanwhile, King George kept a clean sheet against Spotsylvania on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Knights, sneaking past 1-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but King George were the better team in the second half.

James Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11-1. As for King George, their victory bumped their record up to 3-10-2.
