Baseball Recap: Maurepas Triumphs

Maurepas's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the False River Gators by a score of 4-1. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Gators: they've now won four in a row.

Kade Penalber made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over 6.2 innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Maurepas is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-8 otherwise. Penalber was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Penalber wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jonah Miller, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Miller is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Noah Dugas was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Maurepas' victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for False River, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-12-1.

Maurepas will have a chance to go back-to-back against False River: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
