Softball Recap: Oak Grove Comes Up Short

If Oak Grove was feeling good fresh off their 12-4 takedown of Sumiton Christian on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers came up short against the Cordova Blue Devils on Thursday, falling 16-6. The Tigers have struggled against the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Aubrey Guthrie was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Oak Grove's loss dropped their record down to 22-18. As for Cordova, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 27-14 record this season.

Oak Grove will take on Fairfield at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Oak Grove is facing Fairfield at the right time seeing as Fairfield is stuck on a 21-game losing streak. Cordova does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
