Softball Recap: Mukwonago Comes Up Short

Mukwonago had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 7-6 to make it four. They came up short against the Waukesha West Wolverines, falling 10-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 back in April.

As for Waukesha West, they now have a winning record of 9-8. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Waukesha West's part, they got a great performance from Anna Dornbach as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Payton Hisel and Ashlee Barry did most of the damage at the plate: Hisel went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Barry went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Amelia Carlson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Coming up, Mukwonago will head out to square off against New Berlin West at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Indians are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Waukesha West, they will welcome Greendale at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolverines' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
