Softball Game Preview: Martinsville Pirates vs. Joaquin Rams

For the first time this season, Martinsville will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Friday. They will be playing at home against the Joaquin Rams at 5:30 p.m. Martinsville has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight losses, while Joaquin will come in with four straight victories.

Martinsville came up short against Chireno on Monday, falling 13-3.

Rebecca Adams was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Chelby Williams also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, while Joaquin put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Timpson. Everything went Joaquin's way against Timpson as Joaquin made off with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Ke'Maria Wilson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Autumn Webb, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Joaquin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

Joaquin pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Martinsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
