Softball Game Preview: Gabrielino Eagles vs. South El Monte Eagles

Gabrielino hasn't had much luck against South El Monte recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Gabrielino will square off against South El Monte at 3:30 p.m. Gabrielino has given up an average of 14.9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Wednesday, Gabrielino came up short against Mountain View and fell 30-26. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (19), the Eagles still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, South El Monte entered their contest against Arroyo on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Eagles fell just short of the Knights by a score of 8-6.

South El Monte saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Loreli Castrejon, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. Sofia Medina also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Gabrielino's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for South El Monte, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 12-2-1.

Gabrielino might still be hurting after the 14-1 defeat they got from South El Monte in their previous matchup back in March. Can Gabrielino avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
