Basketball Recap: Campbell County Takes Down Ranked Thunder Basin

On Thursday, Campbell County faced Thunder Basin in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Campbell County Camels came out on top against the Thunder Basin Bolts by a score of 48-39. The win was nothing new for the Camels as they're now sitting on three straight.

Campbell County had a senior duo take command as Kaylie Neary went 9 of 18 en route to 21 points and five steals and Lauren Kuhbacher posted 16 points along with six boards and four steals. Kuhbacher has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Patience Smith, who put up five points.

Thunder Basin's loss came despite strong showings from Ashtyn Ketchum and Addison Rouse. Ketchum went 7 for 11 on her way to 19 points and six rebounds, while Rouse dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards. With that strong performance, Rouse is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game.

Campbell County's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Thunder Basin, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Coincidentally, Campbell County and Thunder Basin will both be playing Sheridan the next time they take the court. Campbell County will host Sheridan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Thunder Basin will head out to face them at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
