Recap: Orofino Maniacs vs. St. Maries Lumberjacks
This season hasn't been kind to The Orofino Maniacs, who are still winless after their seventh game. They suffered a rough 44-20 loss at the hands of St. Maries on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Orofino in their matchups with St. Maries: they've now lost four in a row.
Trey Gibson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for St. Maries, rushing for 261 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.7 yards per carry. Gibson is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played.
St. Maries' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Gibson and his three sacks.
Orofino's loss was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 8.0 points per game. As for St. Maries, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.
Orofino does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. Maries is also done with their season.
