Basketball Recap: Spanish Fork Takes a Loss

Spanish Fork played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Springville Red Devils 74-47. The defeat continues a trend for the Dons in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now lost six in a row.

Spanish Fork lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jacob Johnson, who went 6-for-10 on his way to 13 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Gage Christensen, who posted 13 points.

Springville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamyn Sondrup led the charge by dropping a double-double with 20 points and ten boards. Sondrup is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last nine games he's played. Andrew Miller was another key player, going 11-for-16 to rack up 24 points and seven rebounds.

Spanish Fork's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Springville, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
