Basketball Game Preview: McDowell Titans vs. North Buncombe Black Hawks

McDowell is on a ten-game streak of home wins, while North Buncombe is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The McDowell Titans will host the North Buncombe Black Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, McDowell needed a bit of extra time to put away T.C. Roberson. They had just enough and edged the Rams out 69-66. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Rams are ranked 340th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

McDowell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kyson Rinnert, who posted 20 points. Another player making a difference was Derrick Forney Jr, who put up 20 points.

Meanwhile, North Buncombe hadn't done well against T.C. Roberson recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. North Buncombe came out on top against T.C. Roberson by a score of 72-61.

McDowell's victory bumped their record up to 16-2. As for North Buncombe, they are also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.
