Softball Recap: Anna Takes a Loss

Anna dropped their record down to 13-8 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Fort Loramie Redskins by a score of 13-12. The Rockets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Redskins earlier this season, when they won 6-3.

Eva Pleiman and Niyah Koch stepped up to the plate in a big way. Pleiman went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Koch went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Izzy Jenkins, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

As for Fort Loramie, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games.

On Fort Loramie's side, Kendall Tennery made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Tennery has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Mya Salisbury and Macy Schafer did most of the damage at the plate: Salisbury went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Schafer went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave Schafer a new career-high.

Anna has already played their next match (against Botkins), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Fort Loramie, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 12-4 loss against New Bremen on the 9th.
