Preview: Manheim Township Blue Streaks vs. Boiling Springs Bubblers
The Manheim Township Blue Streaks will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Boiling Springs Bubblers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Manheim Township will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 486th, while Boiling Springs is ranked 50th).
The third road game was the charm for Manheim Township, as they earned their first road win of the season. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Warwick 42-39.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Boiling Springs' good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Susquehanna Township by a score of 57-54. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Boiling Springs in their matchups with Susquehanna Township: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Boiling Springs got a solid performance out of Brandon Ascione, who scored 23 points. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for him. Brayden Richie was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Manheim Township's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. As for Boiling Springs, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-1.
Manheim Township was able to grind out a solid victory over Boiling Springs in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 54-42. Will Manheim Township repeat their success, or does Boiling Springs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
