Recap: Corvian Community Cardinals vs. Mountain Island Charter Raptor
The Corvian Community Cardinals fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Mountain Island Charter Raptor on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 27-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raptor. Corvian Community lost against Mountain Island Charter in their previous head to head back in August of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 30-17 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Corvian Community lost, one person who can't be blamed is AJ Jackson Jr.. Despite the final result, he rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Corvian Community's defense sure didn't make it easy: Mountain Island Charter's QB was sacked three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Kamari Walker and his two sacks.
Leading Mountain Island Charter to victory were Tavarain Blue and Grayson Harvey. Blue rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, while Harvey threw for 158 yards and two touchdowns. Reese Johnson did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 80 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Corvian Community has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Mountain Island Charter, their victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-3.
Corvian Community will challenge Draughn at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Draughn's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last eight matches. As for Mountain Island Charter, they will be playing at home against Alleghany at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
