Basketball Recap: Northeast's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Northeast had lost six straight headed into Thursday's match, but Jonathan Senior didn't let it get to seven. The Northeast Hurricanes secured a 74-70 W over the Stoneman Douglas Eagles on Thursday thanks in part to Senior, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. Those 23 points gave him a new career-high.

The team also got some help courtesy of Dean Vital, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played.

Stoneman Douglas lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brady Kuebler, who posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Ayden Mclean, who put up 17 points.

Northeast's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-15. As for Stoneman Douglas, they dropped their record down to 8-12 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Northeast has already played their next contest, an 82-48 loss against McArthur on the 27th. As for Stoneman Douglas, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-43 win against Monarch on the 27th.
