Volleyball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Mira Mesa's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Mira Mesa posted their closest win since September 12th on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Steele Canyon Cougars.

Mira Mesa can attribute much of their success to Melanie Warner, who had five aces. That's the most aces Warner has posted since back in August.

Warner wasn't the only good servers: Mira Mesa was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 23 consecutive contests.

Mira Mesa is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-13 record this season. As for Steele Canyon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-10.

Looking ahead, Mira Mesa will take on Horizon Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Steele Canyon, they will challenge Mount Miguel at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
