Baseball Recap: Caroline Takes a Loss

Caroline came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 14-3 to the King George Foxes. Cavaliers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Foxes since Thursday.

Alex Thomas made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and earned one run and three stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Owen Sager, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Caroline has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for King George, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Caroline will venture away from home to take on Courtland at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Cavaliers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for King George, they will head out on the road to square off against James Monroe at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Yellow Jackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.78 runs per game on average), something the Foxes will no doubt try to take advantage of.
