Baseball Recap: Ottawa Hills' Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Ottawa Hills had to endure a 15-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past the Kelloggsville Rockets 17-2 on Friday. The Bengals' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last 14 games.

Zach Kinnear was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Ottawa Hills got a massive performance out of Jonah Spoelma, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. Those five stolen bases gave Spoelma a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Rockwell, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Ottawa Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kelloggsville only posted an OBP of .346.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-18. As for Kelloggsville, their defeat was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-18.

Ottawa Hills will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rockets: the pair will be back at it again later today.
