Recap: Rancho Verde Mustangs vs. Orange Vista Coyotes
It was a good run, but The Rancho Verde Mustangs unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 35-27 to Orange Vista. Rancho Verde lost against Orange Vista in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 51-14 score last time.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dylan Riley, who rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown. Riley's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Amarion Orange was in the mix too, providing Rancho Verde with two touchdowns.
It was another big night for Sire Gaines, who rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Jesse Anderson was another key contributor, rushing for 86 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
Rancho Verde's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Orange Vista, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rancho Verde will take on Simi Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Simi Valley is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Orange Vista, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Eisenhower at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Eisenhower will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
