Basketball Recap: Douglass Astros vs. Cedar Grove Saints
After flying high against Mt. Zion last Tuesday, Douglass came back down to earth. The Douglass Astros lost to the Cedar Grove Saints on the road by a 75-56 margin on Friday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Astros this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-51 back in January.
Leading Cedar Grove to victory were Emanuel Green and Keith Gillespie. Green posted 30 points, while Gillespie scored 27 points. Green's evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Javonte Floyd was another key player, putting up 11 points.
Douglass' loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Cedar Grove, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 20-3.
Douglass and Cedar Grove should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. Douglass (ranked 66th) will meet North Clayton (ranked 261st) at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Cedar Grove will face off against Stephenson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 330 places (16 vs. 346).
