Baseball Recap: Laughlin Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Laughlin had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They never let the Beaver Dam Diamondback get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Anthony Brookins made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Laughlin got a massive performance out of Zeus Sanchez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Sanchez has become a key player for the Cougars: the team is 11-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Adrian Ruiz was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five stolen bases and two runs.

Laughlin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .650. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in 12 consecutive matchups.

Laughlin's victory bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Beaver Dam, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Laughlin will face off against Boulder City at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Beaver Dam, they will square off against Sandy Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
