Softball Recap: Six Straight Home Wins for Sharpsville

Sharpsville entered their tilt with Wilmington on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Greyhounds. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Jordan Brest's shutout, as she gave up just two hits.

On the hitting side, Lily Palko and Keeley Whitaker did most of the damage at the plate: Palko went 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double, while Whitaker went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Naya Dunder, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Sharpsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Sharpsville's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Wilmington, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-2.

Sharpsville has already played their next matchup, a 4-3 defeat against Cambridge Springs on the 18th. As for Wilmington, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against West Middlesex on the 22nd.
