Softball Recap: Hiwassee Dam Finds Home Field Redemption Against Murphy

There's no place like home for Hiwassee Dam, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Murphy Bulldogs on Monday, sneaking past 1-0. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Bulldogs on Thursday, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

Olivia McNabb made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and two stolen bases.

The victory got Hiwassee Dam back to even at 7-7. As for Murphy, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Hiwassee Dam and Murphy should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Eagles will challenge Andrews at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (205 vs. 420). Meanwhile, Murphy (ranked 173rd) will meet Hayesville (ranked 422nd) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
