Baseball Recap: Monticello Takes a Loss

Monticello came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Benton Bobcats, falling 16-5. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Monticello now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Benton, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monticello will head out to square off against Cascade at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Benton, they will square off against Vinton-Shellsburg at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bobcats are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
