Softball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Union Pines' Winning Streak

If Union Pines was feeling good fresh off their 20-7 takedown of Western Harnett last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vikings came up short against the West Stanly Colts on Thursday, falling 9-2. The Vikings were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the four contests prior), but the Colts' pitchers proved too tough.

Kileigh Cameron made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Union Pines moved to 9-6 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak. As for West Stanly, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 15-1.

Coming up, Union Pines is taking a road trip to take on Scotland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Fighting Scots' pitching crew has only allowed 0.4 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for West Stanly, they will be playing at home against Anson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
