Volleyball Recap: Valley Center Starts Season with Win at Home

Valley Center took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Orange Glen Patriots as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won three in a row.

Valley Center never let Orange Glen on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-6, 25-23, 25-16.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valley Center to victory, but perhaps none more so than Briana Rizo, who had 22 digs. Those 22 digs gave Rizo a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Becker, who had 13 assists and two aces.

Looking ahead, Valley Center will square off against Coastal Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Orange Glen, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Escondido at 6:00 p.m. on the 26th.
