Softball Recap: West Branch Takes a Loss

West Branch was the 8-4 winner over Carrollton when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. West Branch fell just short of Carrollton by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday. Warriors fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Carrollton since Tuesday.

Ellie Tucker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Carly Loper made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. Sara Schmidt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

West Branch has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Carrollton, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.
