Football Game Preview: Avon Braves vs. Attica Blue Devils

The Avon Braves will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Attica Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Avon's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They breezed past Geneseo/Mount Morris to the tune of 35-0. The Braves have beaten Geneseo/Mount Morris the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Geneseo/Mount Morris has come to flipping the script.

Avon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kalman Dolgos out in front who picked up 75 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in one score on the ground. Those three receiving touchdowns gave Dolgos a new career-high. Another signal caller making a difference was Evan Blye, who threw for 167 yards and three TDs while completing 90.9% of his passes.

Avon didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Dolgos and James Chase.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Attica, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 15-14 win over Oakfield-Alabama/Elba.

Attica's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Avon, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Avon took their win against Attica when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 39-14 score. Do the Braves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
