Soccer Game Preview: Volunteer vs. Sullivan East

Volunteer has gone a perfect 4-0 against Sullivan East recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Falcons will look to defend their home pitch against the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Volunteer has five straight victories, Sullivan East has 12 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Volunteer proved they can win big on Monday (they won by three) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Cherokee.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Sullivan East's offense. They lost 3-0 to David Crockett on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Sullivan East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while David Crockett are ranked 72nd).

Sullivan East's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Volunteer, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.

Volunteer came out on top in a nail-biter against Sullivan East in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
