Basketball Recap: Owings Mills Comes Up Short

Owings Mills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 56-40 fall against the Kenwood Bluebirds. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Golden Eagles of the 59-30 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Kenwood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Antoine Day-Barnes, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks. Andrew Otuyelu was another key player, going 6 for 11 en route to 16 points.

Owings Mills' defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Kenwood, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Owings Mills won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Milford Mill Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Milford Mill Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Owings Mills likes a good challenge. As for Kenwood, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll square off against Dundalk at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Kenwood is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.2 points per game this season.
