Basketball Game Preview: North Rowan Cavaliers vs. Central Davidson Spartans

The North Rowan Cavaliers will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Central Davidson Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

North Rowan will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 13 points on Wednesday, then bounced right back against South Davidson on Monday. Everything went North Rowan's way against South Davidson as North Rowan made off with a 62-40 victory. The Cavaliers pushed the score to 47-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wildcats cut but never quite recovered from.

North Rowan had a senior duo take command as Allanah McAuthur posted 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals and Krisstyle Stockton almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dasia Elder, who put up ten points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Central Davidson can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged West Davidson out 40-37.

The win got North Rowan back to even at 1-1. As for Central Davidson, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

North Rowan and Central Davidson were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but North Rowan came up empty-handed after a 51-50 defeat. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Central Davidson's Raegan McCarn, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. Now that North Rowan knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
