Basketball Game Preview: Sweetwater Red Devils vs. Hilltop Lancers

Sweetwater and Hilltop are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Sweetwater Red Devils will head out to challenge the Hilltop Lancers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sweetwater will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Sweetwater played against El Cajon Valley and won via forfeit.

Last Friday, Hilltop was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 55-50 to Castle Park. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sweetwater will need focus on slowing down Roman Miramontes, one of several Hilltop players who made an impact when they last played. He went 8 for 16 en route to 19 points and eight rebounds. Isma Hasani was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Hilltop was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Hilltop's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Sweetwater, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.

Everything came up roses for Sweetwater against Hilltop when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 67-30 win. Will Sweetwater repeat their success, or does Hilltop have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
