Basketball Recap: Platt Panthers vs. Newington Nor'easters
Platt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against the Newington Nor'easters, falling 43-22. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Nor'easters are ranked 26th).
Kendall Miller continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Newington, going 6 of 11 on her way to 14 points in addition to six assists and four steals. What's more, Miller also racked up three blocks, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Hope Romanello was another key player, putting up six points and 19 boards.
Platt's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Newington, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
When Platt and Newington next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Platt will square off against Plainville and their three-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Newington will try to stop Southington's ten-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
