Basketball Recap: Austin Achieve Takes a Loss

Austin Achieve lost against LBJ Austin back in February of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Austin Achieve Polar Bears were beaten by the LBJ Austin Jaguars 88-37. The Polar Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-8.

LBJ Austin was led to victory by Antione Baker and Tre Riley. Baker dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 boards, while Riley almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Baker is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Ja Shawn Waters was another key player, putting up 14 points and four steals.

Austin Achieve dropped their record down to 3-8 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for LBJ Austin, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.

Austin Achieve will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Round Top-Carmine at 11:00 a.m. on December 31st. Austin Achieve is facing Round Top-Carmine at the right time seeing as Round Top-Carmine is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for LBJ Austin, they will be taking part in a tournament against San Marcos at 10:50 a.m. on Friday. San Marcos knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully LBJ Austin likes a good challenge.
