Softball Recap: Menard Wins Going Away Against Richland Springs

Menard made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Richland Springs, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Yellowjackets blew past the Coyotes 13-3 on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Yellowjackets as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Mckenzie Compton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Menard got a massive performance out of Kylee Summerville, who scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Summerville also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Tatum Ruiz was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Menard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .704. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Menard's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-7. As for Richland Springs, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Menard does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Richland Springs, they will take on Miles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.26 runs per game on average), something the Coyotes will no doubt try to take advantage of.
