Volleyball Recap: Brandon Nguyen Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat University

There's no place like home for University Prep Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They came out on top against the University Red Devils by a score of 3-1 on Friday.

In the three sets University Prep Academy was on fire: they won each by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-13, 25-15, 25-15.

University Prep Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brandon Nguyen, who had 32 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Nguyen has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Taran Kollu, who had seven digs and two aces.

Nguyen wasn't the only good server: University Prep Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in three consecutive contests.

University Prep Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for University, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.

Looking ahead, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when University Prep Academy Golden Eagles take on Los Altos Eagles at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. As for University, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Stuart Hall at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be University's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
