Basketball Game Preview: Marshfield Tigers vs. Chippewa Falls Cardinals

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Marshfield Tigers challenge the Chippewa Falls Cardinals at 7:15 p.m. on Monday... Marshfield has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Marshfield is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 78-25 victory over Merrill.

It was another big night for Zaida Kolbeck, who went 8 of 13 on her way to 19 points. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hailey Klumb, who went 5 for 11 en route to 11 points along with five assists and four steals.

Marshfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Chippewa Falls was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-57 heartbreaker at the hands of New Richmond.

Marshfield's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8. As for Chippewa Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.

Marshfield took their victory against Chippewa Falls when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 57-31. Will Marshfield repeat their success, or does Chippewa Falls have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
