Baseball Recap: Cowan Takes a Loss

Cowan extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 8-8 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Adams Starfires. That's two games in a row now that the Blackhawks have lost by just one run.

Jaydon Auker made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

As for South Adams, their victory ended a ten-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-15. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since May 4, 2024.

On South Adams' side, Kade Sprunger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits.

On the hitting side, South Adams saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaleb Minger, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits Minger has posted since back in April.

Coming up, Cowan will square off against Delta at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Blackhawks surely won't give up without a fight. As for South Adams, they will challenge Adams Central at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
