Baseball Game Preview: Grosse Ile Red Devils vs. Airport Jets

The Grosse Ile Red Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Airport Jets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Grosse Ile will be strutting in after a victory while Airport will be coming in after a defeat.

Grosse Ile lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Jefferson, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's match. The Red Devils put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 24-11 win on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Red Devils needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Rocco Pascuzzi was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. Pascuzzi was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Caleb Jones was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Evan Brown, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.

Meanwhile, Airport didn't have quite enough to beat St. Mary Catholic Central on Tuesday and fell 10-9.

Airport's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Grosse Ile, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Grosse Ile might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Airport when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
