Basketball Game Preview: St. Clairsville Red Devils vs. Edison Wildcats

The St. Clairsville Red Devils will venture away from home to face off against the Edison Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Clairsville is looking for their season's first victory.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 62-20, which was the final score in St. Clairsville's tilt against Martins Ferry on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 722nd, while the Purple Riders are ranked 143rd).

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Edison against Brooke on Thursday as the team secured a 64-30 win. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 21 points or more this season.

Edison has also been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for St. Clairsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-14.

St. Clairsville didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Edison in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 55-49 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Clairsville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
