Softball Recap: El Segundo Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

El Segundo took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Palos Verdes, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The El Segundo Eagles never let the Palos Verdes Sea Kings get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since February 19th.

The result came thanks to Jacy Lindsay's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, El Segundo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jazlene Ramos, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Ramos also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

El Segundo has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. Palos Verdes' defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Coming up, El Segundo will venture away from home to challenge Long Beach Poly at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. El Segundo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Palos Verdes, they will be playing in front of their home fans against San Pedro at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
