Football Recap: Marion Piles Up the Points Against Althoff Catholic

Marion won against Mt. Vernon last Friday with 56 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Wildcats really took it to the Althoff Catholic Crusaders for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-24 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 32 points or more this season.

Callahan Roper produced another solid performance throwing for 374 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt. Roper is crushing it when it comes to passing touchdowns: he's passed for at least three every time he's taken the field this season. Blake Winters was another key player, gaining 149 total yards and three touchdowns.

Marion was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 252 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Marion's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1. As for Althoff Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coming up, Marion will look to defend their home field on Friday against Cahokia at 7:00 p.m. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,095 yards in their previous games. As for Althoff Catholic, they will venture away from home to challenge Mt. Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
