Softball Recap: Cortez Comes Up Short

If Cortez was feeling good fresh off their 17-1 takedown of Dysart on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Colts came up short against the Yuma Criminals on Friday, falling 15-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Criminals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-1 last Tuesday.

Gisselle Ojeda Vega made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs. Averi Reason was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Cortez's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Yuma, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-7.

Cortez has already played their next matchup, a 12-2 loss against Glendale on the 28th. As for Yuma, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-1 defeat against Kofa on the 28th.
