Baseball Recap: Fairfield Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Fairfield never let their opponents score on Thursday. They came out on top against the Angola Hornets by a score of 4-0. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Grady Garber made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Garber wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Stoltzfus, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits Stoltzfus has posted since back in April of 2024. Another was Drew Beachy, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Fairfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Angola only posted a batting average of .125.

Fairfield pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Angola, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Coming up, Fairfield will face off against NorthWood at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Falcons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Angola, they will challenge Lakeland at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
