Baseball Recap: Clairemont Beats La Jolla for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Clairemont had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt La Jolla on Tuesday. The Chieftains blew past the Vikings 6-0. The result was nothing new for the Chieftains, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Colton Daudet made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Diego Matsumoto was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI.

The win (which was Clairemont's fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for La Jolla, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for another result: Clairemont was given a win via forfeit against the Vikings on Thursday.
