Softball Recap: Gray's Creek Sets Scoring Season-High Against Douglas Byrd

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gray's Creek). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Douglas Byrd Eagles a 22-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Bears have won 13 games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Amariya Green was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Sasha Arjona, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Gray's Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Gray's Creek pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Douglas Byrd, they are on a 33-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Looking ahead, Gray's Creek will square off against Purnell Swett at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. Douglas Byrd does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
