Softball Recap: Salem Drops Highest Score of Season Against Resurrection Catholic

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Salem). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Resurrection Catholic Eagles a 21-0 shutout on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.

Skyler Turnage was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Turnage was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kynleigh Eggan was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Ripsy Reid was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

Salem always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .697. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Salem's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-10. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Resurrection Catholic, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.
