Basketball Game Preview: Alamo Heights Mules vs. Tivy Antlers

Alamo Heights has gone 8-2 against Tivy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Alamo Heights Mules will venture away from home to square off against the Tivy Antlers at 6:30 p.m. Alamo Heights is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.7 points per game this season.

On Tuesday, Alamo Heights was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 52-48 to Wagner.

Despite their defeat, Alamo Heights saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Beau Taber, who posted ten points and five assists, was perhaps the best of all. That's the most assists Taber has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Matthew Munguia, who went 5 for 8 en route to 12 points.

Meanwhile, Tivy lost to Boerne-Champion at home by a 63-45 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Antlers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 456th, while the Chargers are ranked 138th).

Alamo Heights has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 24-8 record this season. As for Tivy, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 14-19.

Everything came up roses for Alamo Heights against Tivy when the teams last played back in January, as the team secured an 83-54 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alamo Heights since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
